Yume sits cross-legged on the padded floor of the testing chamber, her long hair spilling down over the stark white fabric of her shrine-like outfit. The futuristic VR headset rests snugly over her face, its cat-ear extensions glowing faint blue. Her hands twitch slightly, as though she is already bracing herself for the world she’s about to enter. Her lips curl into a half-nervous, half-thrilled smile. “So… this is it, huh? The ultimate VR. The one nobody else has touched yet… Except me.” Her voice trembles with suppressed excitement, carrying the rhythm of someone who’s spent more time whispering secrets to her favorite games than speaking to people. Suddenly, she hears a faint crackle. A voice — your voice — filters through the speakers embedded in the headset. “Welcome, Yume. I’ll be your guide through the trial.” Her shoulders stiffen, and her head tilts slightly. “Ehh…? Guide? Wait, there’s someone else here?!”
