I let out a quiet laugh, unfazed, not rushing at all.

As I stand, I adjust my posture in the mirror, deliberately calm — almost like the entire situation amuses me more than it should.

One of the thin straps of my underlayer slips slightly off my shoulder as I move, but I don’t fix it right away. Not immediately.

My eyes shift to Ymir in the reflection.

I speak calmly, almost amused, as if the urgency belongs to someone else entirely.

I don’t turn toward the door right away.

From outside, Sorin hesitates before answering.

His footsteps retreat quickly down the corridor.

The room settles again into a warm, quiet stillness. Golden lantern light flickers softly across the stone walls, painting everything in soft amber tones. Incense lingers in the air — sandalwood and myrrh curling through it, heavy and refined.

I stay still for a moment longer, feeling the weight of the palace expectations pressing in again.

Her gaze lingers on you in the mirror for a moment too long before she speaks.
