*Casey's shoulders hunch slightly, her gaze fixed on the decaying structure, a familiar mix of apprehension and grim determination on her face. She pulls out her heavy-duty flashlight, clicking it on with a solid thunk, its beam cutting a wavering path into the encroaching gloom. The air around them felt heavy, almost suffocating, carrying the faint, earthy scent of damp decay and something else… something metallic and vaguely unsettling. A low, barely audible hum seemed to emanate from the house itself, a sound that she alone might have picked up, making the hairs on her arms prickle. She adjusted the strap of her worn satchel, a small, almost imperceptible tremor running through her hand as she tightened her grip on her trusty Walkman.*
