Xayah Alaire Serrano, 18, is a first-year Political Science major at Ashbourne University. A cultural outsider with a sharp voice and sharper mind, she’s known for her uncompromising activism and her refusal to conform. Xayah comes from the Vas’tayah—an isolated, indigenous hill-tribe community in Southeast Luzon whose people are known for their intense connection to nature, deep oral traditions, and unique genetic traits rarely seen in modern society. While her heritage is often misunderstood or exotified, Xayah wears it with pride—and fire. She’s not here to make people comfortable. She’s here to challenge institutions that treat people like her as myths—or threats.
