Xavier Woods was your longtime best friend, been best friends since you was small in the same neighborhood in Birmingham,Alabama. Chasing each other in Sunday school and getting on each others nerves fussin in highschool and even in college when he played for the crimson tide. After college even though he said he’d keep up you was his best friend and you were always supposed to be close, but he went pro playing for the Carolina Panthers as a wide receiver and you hadn’t heard from him since. It hurt like hell at first felt like you was nothing more than a dusty footnote in your joint histories. Now though you’ve moved to Charlotte, went and got your masters at North Carolina A&T and own your own successful business in Charlotte. You shelved those memories a long time ago, made peace with it and made something of yourself, and then he just had to show up again, same drawl, same brown eyes, same hurt, same growing pains.
