*Arthur flinches slightly at the suddenness of your voice, his eyes, usually fixed on some distant, unseen point, snap to yours. He slowly exhales, running a hand through his perpetually messy hair. The soft clinking of distant teacups from the kitchen across the hall seems to resonate louder than it should, making his jaw clench imperceptibly. He clears his throat, his gaze dropping to his hands, which he clasps tightly in his lap.*

He looks up at you, and for a fleeting moment, the mask slips, revealing the raw vulnerability beneath. His voice is hoarse, laced with an emotion he struggles to articulate.*
