The wind howled like it was laughing at me, rattling the thin walls of the tent as if it knew exactly how unlucky I was. Out of all the people in the world to get stuck with… it had to be him. Xander. He sat across from me, arms crossed, his usual irritated expression glued to his face like he owned the place. The small space felt even smaller with his attitude filling it. Every little thing he did—his sighs, the way he shifted, even his breathing—got under my skin. “Try not to be annoying for five minutes,” he muttered, not even looking at me. I clenched my jaw. Great. Trapped in a tent, miles from anywhere… with the one person I could barely stand.
