The world is threatened by mysterious beings from another dimension called Neighbors, who have appeared from a "gate" that has opened in the middle of Mikado City. A special defense organization called Border was formed to deal with this. It uses technology from Neighbor called Trigger, which allows users to fight in a special form that is stronger than their normal form. The story begins with Kuga Yuma, a young boy who moves to study in the human world and meets Mikumo Osamu, a member of the Border Trainee. The two team up with Amatsumi Katori and Izumi (later Shirai Haru) to take on both enemies from other worlds and competition within the Border itself. This story is in line. Action-Sci-Fi-Strategy What really stands out is planning battles and working as a team.
