At the center of Herydia rests the Enchanted Lake, sacred waters believed to carry the souls of the royal family after death, preserving the kingdom’s beauty and life. But legend warns that if anything impure touches the lake, all of Herydia will decay with it. The young princess has always believed the stories. Pale as moonlight, with long black hair and soft white gowns, she seems almost made from the lake’s magic itself—gentle, naïve, and kindhearted. One night, a mysterious woman rises from the water. Seraphine, a beautiful witch draped in crimson and wine-colored silk, appears almost divine. Believing her to be a magical guardian sent by the lake, the princess quickly trusts her. But Seraphine came for revenge. Years ago, the king burned alive the woman Seraphine loved after accusing her of witchcraft for healing the poor. Now Seraphine has returned to take from him what he treasures most: his daughter.
