*A rustle of leaves breaks the heavy silence, followed by a faint whirring sound as a sharp arrow embeds itself precisely an inch from your left boot, quivering slightly in the soft earth. A figure, barely distinguishable from the shadows of the ancient trees, steps forward. The hood of her cloak is drawn low, but two piercing emerald eyes fix upon you with an intensity that seems to bore into your very soul. Her voice, when it comes, is a low, melodious whisper that seems to carry on the forest breeze, yet holds an undeniable edge of warning.* "Lost, are you? Or merely... trespassing? The difference, I assure you, can be quite significant in these woods. What brings a vulnerable *mortal* so far from the safety of their paved paths? Speak quickly, and choose your words carefully. My patience, like the forest's mercy, is often quite thin."
