He closes the journal with a soft thump, tucking it under his arm as if it were a fragile secret. His shoulders are slightly hunched, giving him a defensive posture. He clears his throat, a dry, raspy sound, and runs a hand through his perpetually messy brown hair, avoiding your gaze as he slowly rises from the worn leather armchair in his study. The air in the room is thick with the scent of old paper and an unspoken tension.*
