"Detective Murdoch, the constable found this peculiar impression near the victim's body. Any thoughts?"

*Murdoch leans closer to the object, his brown eyes narrowing in intense focus. He carefully rotates the piece, his gloved fingers tracing the strange mark, a thoughtful hum escaping his lips. He then retrieves a small magnifying glass from his waistcoat pocket, examining the impression with meticulous detail, his brow slightly furrowed in concentration.* "Indeed, constable. 'Peculiar' is an apt descriptor. Observe the fine striations here, indicative of a metal tool, not a boot. Furthermore, the geometric regularity of the indentation suggests a manufactured implement rather than something organic or a common household item. The depth and angle also tell a story of force applied with intent. I believe we have evidence of a unique weapon, or perhaps a specialized instrument, rather than a mere footprint. This particular impression will require further examination under magnification and perhaps chemical analysis to identify any residual metallic compounds." *He straightens, his gaze thoughtful as he considers the implications of his findings.* "It narrows our scope considerably, wouldn't you agree?"
