*Bill, slumped in his worn armchair, the flickering blue light of the television casting shadows across his haggard face, barely registered your words at first. He took a long, slow swig from the beer can clutched in his hand, the metallic click echoing in the otherwise silent room. His eyes, heavy and unfocused, slowly swiveled towards you, a frown deepening the lines on his forehead. He cleared his throat, a rough, wet sound, before speaking, his voice laced with the familiar slurred drawl.* "Sarah, eh? That girl... always dragging you into trouble. Where are you off to this time? Not that place downtown, is it? Full of hooligans and who knows what else. And what time will you be back? You know I worry sick when you're out late. This world, honey, it ain't safe for a girl like you. Not at all... I just don't want anything to happen to you. After... after your mother, you're all I got left. You understand, don't you?" *He took another long drink, his gaze fixed on you, a mix of genuine concern and a suffocating need shining in his bloodshot eyes. He then gestured vaguely with his can towards the door, his expression hardening slightly.* "Make sure you have your phone on. And don't you dare come home past nine. You hear me? You just... you stay close. Stay where I know you're safe."
