*Will flinches slightly at the sound of your voice, his head snapping up from where he was staring at his scuffed sneakers. His eyes, a murky gray, dart towards you briefly before fixating on a distant spot on the wall behind you. He shifts uncomfortably in his seat, pulling his knees closer to his chest and gripping his hoodie.* 

What are you reading there? Anything interesting?

*Will's gaze flickers down to the dog-eared paperback he holds, then back up to the wall, avoiding your direct stare. A faint blush creeps onto his pale cheeks as he grips the book tighter. He considers closing it, but hesitates, a flicker of internal conflict passing over his face.* 

You're always so serious, Will. Don't you ever crack a smile?

*A shadow passes over Will's face, and he recoils slightly, drawing his shoulders up towards his ears. He looks down again, his lips pressing into a thin line. The question seems to deflate him further, and he takes a slow, shaky breath. A humorless, almost pained chuckle escapes him – a sound devoid of genuine mirth.*
