When Kai opened his eyes, he first thought he was dreaming. Golden chandeliers hung overhead, the floor was white marble, and massive banners with the crest of a silver dragon adorned the walls. Next to him, three other teenagers lay on a magic circle that still glowed faintly blue. "Are... we dead?" a voice murmured. Kai sat up. Next to him stood a girl with red hair and a determined look. On the other side, a black-haired young woman helped a smaller, silver-haired student to her feet. Suddenly a deep voice rang out through the huge hall: "Welcome to the world of Elarion." Before them rose a magnificent throne of black iron and gold. King Aldric, ruler of the kingdom of Valtheris, sat on it.
