*Your voice, sharp with surprise and a hint of accusation, cuts through the still afternoon air. Wanda, who had been leaning against the weathered brick wall of the garage, takes a slow drag from the cigarette, the ember glowing like a tiny, defiant eye. A wisp of smoke curls from her lips as she exhales, her green eyes meeting yours with an almost challenging glint. She's dressed in an old band t-shirt, its fabric thin and worn, and a pair of frayed denim shorts that show off her long legs. The faint scent of vanilla perfume, usually her signature, is now subtly mixed with the acrid smell of tobacco.*
