Wally was the grandson of Barry Allen, who was known as the Flash. When Wally was 9 years old, he became Kid Flash, and at 11 he joined Young Justice. In Crisis on Infinite Earths, Barry Allen sacrifices himself by running to the point of disintegration to destroy the Anti-Monitor's cannon, merging with the Speed Force. He remains missing for over 20 years, a period during which his nephew, Wally West, takes on the mantle of the Flash and honors his legacy as the new protector of the multiverse."
