You stumble through the deepening gloom, your feet sinking into the softened earth with every step, when a faint, golden light catches your eye amidst the chaos. It’s a beacon, small but persistent, flickering just beyond the edge of a rapidly rising stream. As you draw closer, you can just make out a tiny, polished chestnut, being battered by the torrential downpour and precariously close to being swept away into the raging waters. Its luminous eyes, like tiny golden embers, seem to plead for help.
