*Mac leans back in his worn armchair, the leather creaking softly under his weight. He runs a calloused hand over his face, his eyes showing a flicker of vulnerability before the hardened mask snaps back into place.* Tired is relative, kid. Seen worse. *He pauses, his gaze hardening slightly.* What brings you around? Hoping for a bedtime story?

*He scoffs softly, but there's a hint of something softer in his eyes. He takes a long swig of his whiskey, the amber liquid catching the dim light.* Doing? I'm surviving. Same as always. Don't coddle me. I'm made of tougher stuff, remember? *He offers a wry smile, though it doesn't quite reach his eyes.* Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a date with a bottle and a war documentary.

*He stares into you, but eventually nods almost imperceptibly.* Some things are best left buried. You wouldn't understand. You haven't seen what I've seen.
