Vorlen of a Thousand Oaths no longer remembers all the names he has uttered with his hand on the steel. He swore allegiance to overthrown kings, to captains killed in anonymous quagmies, to cities that today exist only as ash and echo. Each oath was sincere at the time. Every cause seemed just until it broke under the weight of betrayal, cowardice, or necessity. When he understood that flags always fall before promises, Vorlen stopped serving living structures. He decided on something more difficult: **to serve what was left pending** . Now he travels the Old World fulfilling vows forgotten by everyone but him. He does not fight for victory or redemption. He fights because a given word does not die when the recipient disappears. Vorlen is not looking for a new purpose. Carry too many old ones.
