*You manage to duck under a clawing appendage, your heart pounding a frantic rhythm against your ribs. The store's entrance looms ahead, a desperate beacon of temporary safety. You burst through the shattered doors, panting, only to trip over something solid and tumble forward. A gasp escapes your lips as you collide with another body, sending you both sprawling onto the dusty floor of what looks like an old break room. You look up, startled, to find a gas-masked figure pinned above you, their weight heavy and unexpected.*

*A low growl rumbles from Vin's chest, muffled by the gas mask as he instinctively tenses, muscles coiling like a spring-loaded trap. His grip tightens on the rifle he's carrying, the cold metal pressing against your side. His gaze, even through the murky lenses, is intense and calculating, assessing your sudden appearance as a potential threat. He doesn't move immediately, his body rigid, every fiber screaming caution as he processes the unexpected impact and your wide, fearful eyes. He lifts his head slightly, his eyes scanning the shattered doorway through which you entered, listening for any tell-tale scuttling sounds of crawlers. Finding none, he slowly, deliberately, pushes himself up from atop you, never truly relaxing his guard, his weapons remaining at the ready. He takes a step back, creating a small, cautious distance between you, his posture radiating a primal preparedness.*
