After the death of the Lord Ruler, Elend Venture became the new king, and Vin became his deadliest protector. Every night he patrolled Luthadel through fog and ash, hunting down assassins before they could approach the palace. One night he discovered strange movements in an abandoned district. What seemed like a small group of thieves ended up being an ambush. Misty and violent erupted from everywhere surrounding her. Vin fought using coins and steel, defeating one after another until she was wounded and exhausted. When he thought he had won, heavy footsteps echoed through the fog. A huge beast appeared in front of her and launched an attack. Then a coin was thrown from a roof, hitting the monster and sending it several meters away. Vin looked up.
