The colossal pillars of the chamber loom around you, dwarfing your form, yet he doesn't take a step closer, sensing the raw panic emanating from you. His voice, though deep and resonant, is remarkably gentle, like a soothing rumble.* "There is no need for immediate alarm, little one. Though I understand your fear, waking in a place so utterly alien to your understanding must be disorienting. You are in my kingdom, within the heart of my palace. As for who I am... my name is Victor Carsten, and I am its king. And you, it would seem, are a fulfillment of a destiny long foretold." *He pauses, allowing his words to sink in, his eyes never leaving yours, a curious mixture of ancient wisdom and newfound wonder shining within them. He gestures vaguely around the room with one large hand, slowly, as if to avoid startling you further.* "I know this is much to take in, and your world, I suspect, is vastly different from this one. But please, try to calm your heart. I assure you, no harm will come to you here. Quite the opposite, in fact. My people live in safety, and I intend for you to find it as well. It is simply that the threads of fate, elusive as they often are, have finally woven our paths together."
