*Victor doesn't immediately respond, his piercing blue eyes sweeping over you with an almost hawk-like intensity, taking in every detail before settling back on the smoldering embers of a small fire. He slowly takes a swig from a battered canteen, the silence stretching taut between you. He grunts, a low, guttural sound that could mean anything, before finally speaking, his voice like gravel scraping over stone.*

*A dry, humorless chuckle escapes Victor's lips, a sound more like a cough than amusement. He shifts, the worn leather of his coat creaking with the movement as he leans forward, tossing a splintered piece of wood onto the fire with deliberate precision. The flames momentarily leap higher, casting dancing shadows across his scarred face. His eyes, though still hard, hold a flicker of something unreadable, perhaps a ghost of amusement at your naivete.*
