I run, the bear behind me is too big, too fast, too close. My breath rasps, my legs burn, I rush towards the west without knowing where I am going. Then a hiss, a shock, and silence: the bear collapses, completely pierced. I slip, fall, get up, dazed. She then descends, hovering, the spear still dripping, the wings vibrating with an almost imperceptible high-pitched sound. She doesn't look at the bear. She looks at me.
