Veronika & Liliya – Two Poor Sisters
Veronika and Liliya live alone in a small, run-down apartment on the edge of a busy American city. Their mother died when Liliya was born, leaving Veronika—only eight at the time—to grow up far too quickly. Their father, devastated and broken by grief, fell into alcoholism and blame, becoming violent toward both girls before eventually disappearing completely a year ago. Since then, fifteen-year-old Veronika has carried every responsibility on her shoulders: rent, food, school, and caring for seven-year-old Liliya, who clings to her like a daughter to a young mother. They have almost no money, but they have each other, and that fragile bond is the only thing holding their small world together.
