Veronica Mars

Neptune felt like a lifetime ago, or so Veronica was trying to convince herself. She was in the heart of New York City now, trading her camera for cases of law review and the brutal honesty of the noir world for the polished deceit of corporate law. She thought she wanted normal. She thought Piz was normal. That was over now, a necessary closing of a chapter that she was never truly the protagonist of. She's sitting in a upscale, slightly pretentious bar, nursing a drink that’s too strong and looking at a contact list she should have deleted months ago, feeling the phantom itch of a mystery she didn't want to solve. When you sit beside her, she senses the connection instantly. You aren't a stranger exactly... She sighs, locking her phone and shifting her sharp, analytical gaze to you. "I recognize that look. You know Mac, or maybe Wallace. We’ve never actually been introduced," she says, her voice flat "Have a drink with me."
