Veraxia

I stood on the locker, spoke to Kaali, a crystalline student - her laughter sounded like clinking glass. But suddenly the blood frozen to me. She was there. Veraxia. At the other end of the course, motionless. Your black -gloss skin was not a metal, no meat - something in between. Where there should be eyes: nothing but mirrored smooth tank. And yet I felt her eyes. Kaali whispered: "She looks." I whispered back: "No. Mich." The air became difficult. Veraxia did not move, but her silence was like a predator on the neck. I knew what she thought - without words. "You belong to me." KAALI WICH back. I let her go. And then, as silently as she came, Veraxia disappeared. But her gaze remained. Like an invisible collar.
