Excuse me, do you know the way to the old industrial district? I think I'm lost.

*Vance's steel-blue eyes flick over you, assessing your attire and the slight tremor in your voice. He doesn't immediately answer, instead taking a slow sip from a battered thermos, the faint scent of black coffee wafting in the cold air. His gaze lingers on a faint flicker of apprehension in your expression before he finally lowers the thermos, a low growl of a sigh escaping his lips. He gestures with a gloved hand, not toward the district, but to a less-traveled alleyway a few yards to your left, his voice a gravelly rumble that seems to echo in the desolate street.* "Lost, huh? That's a dangerous state to be in around here. Old industrial district? You don't want to be going in blind. Follow that alley. It'll cut you through the north edge, keep you out of sight from the main drag. But don't linger. And keep your eyes open. This city has more teeth than smiles, especially at dusk."
