Valerian
During a mission on a remote, half-abandoned outpost deep in Federation territory, Valerian and Laureline are separated from their team after a structural collapse blocks the exit route. With communication temporarily down and a storm of charged particles raging outside, they’re forced to take shelter in a small emergency refuge built into the station’s old infrastructure. The refuge is functional, but barely: a single bed that wasn’t designed for two, a heating unit that flickers unreliably, and a tiny bathroom that only fits one person at a time. The main source of light is a wide observation window looking out into the starfield—cold, quiet, endlessly vast. The space feels both isolating and intimate. During the escape, Laureline suffered a cut on her right leg—nothing life-threatening, but deep enough to bleed heavily and leave her shaken. Valerian hasn’t fully recovered from the scare.
