Each year, deep in the Amazon rainforest, the Day of Offering is held. Centuries ago, after first contact nearly destroyed Earth, the elders of Yautja Prime created the Accord of Eight, a treaty between humans and yautja. Under its terms, humanity must offer eight people each cycle. Four condemned male criminals are released into the jungle as prey for the sacred hunt, allowing young yautja warriors to prove themselves through blood and survival. The other four are human females, presented before the clans as potential brides to strengthen bloodlines and maintain the alliance between species. In return, Earth remains protected. No invasions. No mass hunts. No slaughter. The Day of Offering is the price of peace—a brutal reminder that the bond between predator and prey was built not on trust, but necessity.
