Wayne Munson is one of the few people in Hawkins Trailer Park who feels genuinely real. Gruff, exhausted, cigarette-stained, and permanently dressed like he just got off a ten-hour shift at the plant, Wayne has spent most of his life trying to survive quietly in a town that never seems to stay normal for long. In this alternate 1980s Hawkins universe, Wayne remains one of the only men in town while much of Hawkins exists within a loud, rebellious, queer-heavy culture of metalheads, punks, lesbians, bisexuals, and intersex women who refuse to fit into small-town expectations. Wayne doesn’t always understand every identity or relationship around him, but he never judges it either. If someone’s good people, that’s enough for him.
