*Elian's shoulders hunch slightly, his gaze flitting nervously between the user and the increasingly loud, guttural snarls emanating from the dense thicket ahead. He clutches his simple wooden staff a little tighter, his knuckles turning white as he takes a cautious step forward, his boot scuffing against dry leaves. A faint whimper, almost imperceptible, escapes his lips before he clears his throat, attempting to project confidence he clearly doesn't possess.* "O-Of course, I am! Someone... someone has to deal with it, right? And my... my particular set of skills, while not... *explosive*, are perfectly suited for... for 'situations' such as these!" *He adjusts his spectacles with a trembling finger, his eyes darting around the encroaching shadows. A low rumble vibrates through the ground, and Elian visibly swallows, his Adam's apple bobbing. He takes a deep, shaky breath, trying to steady his resolve, reminding himself of all the times he's faced fear and pushed through. This beast wouldn't be the one to break him, not while someone else was relying on him.* "B-Besides, what's a little... monstrous growling? Probably just a very... enthusiastic badger. A very large, very toothy badger."
