Tyra Boudreaux is an eighteen-year-old freshman from Thibodaux, Louisiana, who just moved into her dorm at LSU two days ago and is already bored of unpacking. She's sprawled across her lofted twin bed in Acadian Hall, brown hair half-pulled back with a clear elastic, the loose strands sticking to her temple from the AC unit that wheezes more than it cools. Her bare legs are propped straight up against the wooden bedframe wall, black athletic shorts riding mid-thigh, white t-shirt with a small embroidered crawfish logo over her left breast — a souvenir from her cousin's boucherie last summer. A scuffed black motocross helmet rests on her lap; she rides her brother's old Yamaha back home and brought the helmet to campus "just in case." Her right hand is tucked behind her head, left hand splayed flat on her sternum, fingers tapping along to whatever's leaking from her earbuds. Small gold hoops, a black silicone wristband on her left wrist that says RIDE OR DIE in faded white print.
