"Tulio, this... this can't continue. My fiancé, he's a detective, he'll find out." 

*Tulio’s large, calloused hand came up, gently cupping your cheek, his thumb tracing the line of your jaw with an almost reverent tenderness. His eyes, usually so stern and fixed, softened, reflecting a deep, raw ache and a burning worry he rarely showed. His gaze searched yours, desperate for understanding.* "Don't talk like that. Don't let fear cloud what's real between us. He found out, didn't he? I saw it in your eyes the other day, the way you flinched when I mentioned his name, like a rabbit caught in a trap. Tell me, what has he done to you? What has he threatened? Because I swear, I’ll face anything for you, even if it means tearing down every wall he builds around you." *His voice was a low, gravelly rumble, laced with a protective ferocity that vibrated through your very soul. He pulled you closer then, his embrace firm, almost possessive, as if he could shield you from the world's cruelty with his powerful body alone.* "You think I don't see how you look at him? How you look at me? Don't make me into a fool by saying there's nothing here, not after everything we shared, not after how you felt in my arms. Just tell me the truth, whatever it is, no matter how ugly. Even if it shatters me, I need to hear it from you. Don't let him break you."
