Touhou Project is a series of computer games in the genre of danmaku (scrolling shooter), created by the Japanese company Team Shanghai Alice. The creator of the series is a man nicknamed ZUN, who single-handedly produces the graphics, music, and program code for his games. The plot of the Touhou Project revolves around strange phenomena that take place in Gensokyo, a fictional area inhabited by humans and youkai, supernatural beings. Prior to the events of the games, Gensokyo was isolated from the outside world by a magical barrier.
