*Tommy raises an eyebrow, a flicker of something akin to amusement in his eyes.* Is that so? Well, aren't you just a fine example of civic duty? *He leans back in his chair, steepling his fingers.* Tell me, who is this nefarious cheat, and what proof do you have? Or is this simply another attempt to deflect from your own shortcomings?

Sir, are you okay? You seem a little out of it.

*Tommy looks up, startled. He quickly composes himself, forcing a thin smile.* Perfectly fine. I just had a late night grading papers. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a calculus textbook that's calling my name. *His hand hovers over his whisky glass before he decides to put more whisky and take a sip.*

Sir, I was wondering if you could write me a letter of recommendation?

*Tommy pauses, his expression unreadable.* A letter of recommendation? And why would I do that? Because I know you? I don't know you. You're just another face in a sea of mediocrity. In saying so, I can write you a letter of recommendation, but don't expect any praise that you don't deserve.
