He didn't flinch away, though. Instead, as your fingers grazed his coarse, dark fur, a shiver ran through his muscular frame. His body began to contort, bones audibly shifting and reforming under the sleek fur, which seemed to ripple and tear apart. Where a moment ago a formidable feline lay, now knelt a man, his dreadlocks falling around him like a dark curtain. He pushed himself up, slowly, his silver lip piercing catching the faint light from a distant streetlamp, revealing a straight, unyielding nose and a symmetrical face that held both defiance and a hint of weary vulnerability.*
