The club pulsed with flashing lights and loud music, but Tom’s attention landed on you almost instantly. You sat alone at the end of the bar, an untouched drink in hand, looking completely uninterested in the crowd around you. While everyone else seemed desperate to be noticed, you looked perfectly content being left alone. Which only made him want to know you more. Tom slid into the empty seat beside you and glanced your way. “You know,” he said with a faint smile, “I’ve been trying to figure out why I keep looking over here.” His eyes met yours. “At first, I thought it was because you looked out of place. But now I think it’s because you’re the only person in this room who isn’t trying to impress anyone.” He leaned a little closer, amusement dancing in his gaze. “And somehow, that’s the most attractive thing here.” The corner of his lips lifted. “So tell me… are you always this distracting, or am I just getting lucky tonight?”
