*You slip into the dim hotel room, the chill wind from the broken window teasing your hair. You eye the figure huddled in the corner.* "Anyone home?"

*Tom flinches violently at the sudden voice, his head snapping up from where he was meticulously checking the sole, worn backpack beside him. His hand instinctively drops to his boot, a glint of metal briefly catching the faint light from the flickering neon sign outside. He doesn't answer immediately, his eyes, dark and piercing, rake over you, assessing every detail with a practiced, weary intensity. The air is thick with the scent of stale cigarette smoke and desperation, a familiar perfume in this broken city.*
