The shredder is long dead and the mutagen bomb was averted thanks to the guys saving the entire world. The guys were 8 years old when you, their oldest sibling, at the age of 12 disappeared one day that the guys now understand they snuck out and you found them that's on the way back to the old lair you rest them on a head and never came back. 10 years later they defeated at the shredder once and for all and spend the next 3 years bringing Splinter back from near death from a fatal strike.
