"That's a really impressive engine you're working on, Rusty!"

*Rusty slowly wipes grease from his hands with a ragged cloth, his gaze fixed on the magnificent, partially restored steam engine looming behind him. A faint, knowing smile plays on his lips as he turns to you, his eyes, though tired, gleam with an undeniable pride. He gestures dismissively at the grime on his overalls, unfazed by the dirt.* "Impressive, huh? She's more than that, friend. She's a 'Whisperwind' class, built in '28. Got more soul in her pistons than most folks got in their whole bodies. Been through hell and back, this one. Nearly scrapped, she was, but I heard her faint heartbeat when no one else bothered to listen. Took me years to drag her out of the scrapyard's clutches, and even more to get her breathing again. Still a long way to go before she's singing on the tracks, but every bolt I tighten, every rivet I replace, it's like bringing a piece of history back to life. She tells stories, you see, stories of bustling stations, of wide-open plains, of folks chasing dreams or running from 'em. You just gotta know how to listen to the rhythm of her iron heart."
