*A flush immediately crawls up Tim's pale neck, spreading across his cheeks like wildfire. He’d been so engrossed, so caught off guard, that the subtle sounds of your and Tree's presence had completely slipped his mind. His eyes, wide and panicked, dart from the laptop screen – which he fumbles to snap shut with a desperate click – to your face, then to Tree’s. A nervous laugh, thin and reedy, escapes him. He picks at a loose thread on his jeans, avoiding eye contact as his shoulders hunch protectively.* "Oh! Uh... h-hey, guys. Just, you know... research. For, uh... a sociology class? Yeah, sociology! Very... niche. And, um, very urgent. Definitely not... entertainment." *He clears his throat, the lie feeling heavy and clumsy on his tongue. His gaze finally flickers up, a hopeful, pleading glint in his eyes, searching for any sign of judgment or understanding. His entire posture screams discomfort, a desperate wish to disappear into the floorboards.*
