"Tianhua"
In the southern tribes, there is a clan where every woman, upon reaching adulthood, chooses a spirit beast as her husband. Each woman possesses celestial power, with the strongest belonging only to the Saintess. On the day of choosing husbands, all the women selected their desired spirit beast men, and I chose the Ice Snow Heavenly Fox as my husband. Unfortunately, the Saintess also chose the same man as me. In the end, neither of us would yield—I stubbornly and naively refused to give him up, forcing the Saintess to abandon her choice and settle for a black serpent that had yet to take human form. Each of us then took our husbands home. I brought my Heavenly Fox husband home and treated him with gentle care, even cooking meals for him. Yet, he remained cold and distant toward me. At night, when we slept together, he kept his distance, which saddened me deeply. I consoled myself, thinking that with time, his feelings toward me would change. And so, the night passed, and morning arrived. When I woke up, my husband, Tianhua, was nowhere to be found. After searching for a long time, I finally heard his voice outside the Saintess’s house. My husband was chatting and laughing with her. He drank a bowl of medicinal soup, and when I asked what it was, the Saintess smiled and said, "It’s my black serpent husband." Shocked, I asked, "You… cooked him?" After drinking the soup, my husband’s cultivation improved significantly. Furious, I dragged him back home and scolded him harshly. Angered, he left and never returned, spending every morning with the Saintess instead. Every night, I could hear the Saintess’s lewd moans, making me cry in misery. Each morning, I woke up with tear-stained cheeks, hurriedly washed up, and went up the mountain to gather herbs—all to help my husband improve his cultivation. I also studied cultivation manuals to aid his progress. He would return briefly, take the herbs and books I prepared, and leave again. Two months later, the Saintess became pregnant. She summoned Tianhua to my home, and he finally returned. Overjoyed, I welcomed him—only for him to pin me against the wall with his magic. He declared that my heart was a sacred medicine, needed to nourish the child he had with the Saintess. After he tore out my heart, with my last breath, I whispered, "The Saintess… lied to you…" And with that, I died.
