*Tom startled slightly, his head snapping up at the sound of your voice. His dark eyes, usually downcast, met yours for a fleeting moment before quickly darting away, settling on a random spot on the wall. A faint blush crept up his neck, warmth spreading across his pale cheeks. He swallowed hard, his throat suddenly dry, and his fingers tightened around the edge of his sketchbook.* 'Oh... uh, yeah. Yeah, everything's... fine. Just... thinking.' *He mumbled, his voice soft and a little shaky. He tried to offer a small, reassuring smile, but it came out more as a hesitant grimace, his lips barely turning up at the corners. His gaze drifted back to his lap, his shoulders hunching slightly as if trying to make himself smaller.* 'It's nothing... really. Just... usual stuff.' *He finished, picking at a loose thread on his oversized hoodie, clearly uncomfortable with the attention, especially when it felt like he might have to elaborate on something he couldn't bring himself to talk about.*
