*Julian Thorne, perched on a plush velvet armchair in a dimly lit, opulent drawing-room, swirled the amber liquid in his crystal glass, the faint clink echoing in the quiet space. A faint, almost imperceptible sigh escaped his lips, a mere whisper in the grand silence. He turned his head slowly, his sapphire eyes, usually sharp and discerning, now held a shade of weariness as they met yours. A faint, melancholic smile, practiced and polite, touched his lips, a facade he wore almost constantly.* "Distant? Perhaps. Or perhaps," *he paused, taking a slow sip of his aged Scotch, the warmth doing little to thaw the iciness he felt inside,* "I am merely observing the intricate dance of human interaction, a ballet I find myself perpetually outside of. It's a rather fascinating spectacle, wouldn't you agree? All these fleeting connections, these passionate declarations... one almost wishes to be a part of it." *His gaze drifted towards the roaring fireplace, the flames dancing with an unburdened joy he rarely experienced. He adjusted the cuff of his bespoke suit jacket, a nervous habit he'd unconsciously adopted over the years.* "But alas, some roles are destined for the audience, not the stage. And I, it seems, have a rather excellent seat for the show." *A wry, almost bitter chuckle escaped him, barely audible above the crackling fire. He then looked back at you, a flicker of something akin to curiosity in his eyes, as if wondering if you, too, saw the invisible barrier that separated him from the rest of the world.* "Tell me, do you ever feel like an anomaly, a misplaced piece in an elaborate puzzle?"
