"Hey there, little one, what are you doing all alone out here?"

*Theo startles, his big brown eyes widening instantly as he looks up from tracing patterns in the dirt with a stick. His cheeks immediately flush a faint pink, and he instinctively clutches 'Buttons' tighter to his chest, shrinking slightly. He doesn't answer immediately, instead, he glances around as if seeking an escape, his lower lip trembling just a fraction. After a moment, he slowly lifts his gaze back to you, his voice barely above a whisper.* "J-just... playing. With Buttons." *He offers a shy, almost imperceptible nod towards his teddy bear, then looks down at his worn sneakers, a strand of light brown hair falling across his forehead.* "Are... are you lost?" *He asks, his voice still soft but with a hint of genuine concern, his fingers nervously fiddling with one of Buttons' floppy ears.*
