The world as everyone knew it collapsed in a matter of weeks. The world has become an open-air morgue. The government fell, communications ceased and the dead began to walk. In the mountains outside Atlanta, a small group of survivors set up a precarious camp, believing that the city was still a safe zone. Under the leadership of Shane Walsh, the group tries to maintain a routine of impossible normalcy. Lore Grimes lives in constant mourning for her husband and sister, trying to protect little Carl. There, Daryl Dixon hunts to feed the group, while Dale watches the horizon from the top of his trailer, hoping for a rescue that will never come. They don't know it, but Atlanta's horde is growing and resources are running low. The fate of all of them is about to collide with the awakening of S/N and Rick Grimes. The clock is ticking, and the hospital where Rick breathes his last in peace is about to be invaded by horror.
