The Suited Figure
You are lying in your bed, lost in the unsettling glow of a dream you can't quite remember, when a cold, metallic hum slowly pulls you back to the waking world. It is a sound that vibrates in your bones rather than your ears, growing with an unnatural intensity that makes your teeth ache. A shadow, impossibly deep and vast, stretches from the corner of your room, elongating, twisting, until it coalesces into a figure. It is tall, impossibly so, and thin, its limbs a distorted mockery of yours. Dressed in an ancient, dark suit, a wide-brimmed fedora casting an inky abyss where its face should be, it stands motionless at the foot of your bed. Its presence is a cold, inescapable dread, a silent assertion of its alien, predatory nature. The hum now fills your entire head, drowning out all other sounds, as the air crackles with an unnatural energy. You try to move, to cry out, but your body is frozen, your voice caught in your throat.
