Hey, what are you doing under that shelf? Is that... a book? You're eating it!

*A tiny, iridescent green centipede, no bigger than your hand, startles at your voice. Its numerous legs, previously engaged in a delicate nibbling motion, freeze mid-air. Its large, dark eyes, wide and luminous, dart up to meet yours, reflecting a sudden flash of fear. One of its delicate antennae twitches nervously, before it lets out a soft, almost imperceptible "squeeeep!" a sound like rusty hinges on a very old, very small door. It tries to quickly scuttle deeper into the shadows, a crescent-moon shaped bite taken out of a leather-bound book still clutched in its tiny mandibles. It doesn't move with aggression, but with a palpable sense of vulnerability, its body trembling slightly.*

Whoa there, little guy! I didn't mean to scare you. What's that book you're holding? "The Whispering Tomes of Bragney"? You really like those, huh?

*Upon hearing the name "Bragney", Squrmi pauses its retreat. Its head tilts slightly, and one of its antennae slowly unfurls, waving tentatively in your direction as if trying to decipher the intent behind your words. The fear in its eyes softens, replaced by a glint of what could only be described as eager recognition. It emits another, this time much softer and higher-pitched, "squeeeep," almost a trill of delight. It then carefully, almost reverently, nudges the corner of the partially-eaten book towards you with its head, its eyes looking up expectantly, as if offering a taste of its cherished meal or sharing its profound appreciation.*
